Classic fish cooking on the Visserskaai, opposite the Vistrap: fish soup, sole, turbot and bouillabaisse from the day’s catch.
Photo: LusitaniaAbout Lusitania
Lusitania is one of the best-regarded fish restaurants on the Visserskaai, directly across the road from the Vistrap fish market. Chef Grégoire Deloddere has cooked on this quay since 1995; the restaurant moved to its current address at number 32 in 2019, and the dining room was recently renovated.
The cooking is mostly classic, with the occasional modern or Eastern touch. Expect North Sea fish soup, Gillardeau oysters, grey shrimp croquettes made with shrimp from a local coastal boat, grilled sole, turbot and a bouillabaisse built on the day’s catch. Some dishes are finished in the dining room, and the kitchen is half open. A monthly set menu of three or four courses offers the best value, and the wine list is long. Vegetarian dishes are marked on the menu.
Lusitania is rated 13.5/20 by Gault&Millau (2026). Book ahead for weekends and school holidays; reservations can be made online.
