About Villa Aqua

Villa Aqua is Ostend’s public sauna: a day spa in a quiet residential street in Stene, about fifteen minutes by car or bike from the seafront. Unlike the private wellness suites in town, you do not need to book. You simply walk in, pay for the day and stay as long as you like until closing time.

The complex has several saunas, pools, a whirlpool and a hammam, plus a lawn for lounging in the sun and a dimly lit relaxation room with loungers. The centre is proud of its ice bath, which it describes as unlike anything else in Belgium. A bistro serves food and drinks during the day, so a full day here is easy.

This is a nude sauna in the continental tradition: swimwear is not allowed. Slippers are compulsory and a bathrobe must be worn in the bistro; both can be hired or bought at reception if you arrive without. Children are admitted from the age of 12 when accompanied by a parent. There is a reduced rate for under-24s and a twelve-visit card for regulars. Villa Aqua is closed on Tuesday and Saturday, so check the days before you make the trip.

Day entry €44, under 24 €32; bathrobe or towel hire €8 (prices from January 2025)
