About this event

Lichtgolf (light wave) is Ostend’s winter light walk: a three-kilometre evening route through the centre with seven light installations, projections and video mapping on the city’s landmarks, accompanied by an audio story on headphones voiced by Flemish actors including Wim Opbrouck and Sien Eggers.

The route starts at the tourist office on the Monacoplein and passes the Kursaal, Leopold Park, St Peter and St Paul’s Church, the station, the Groentemarkt and the Kapucijnenkerk, with several stops indoors. It takes an hour and a half to two hours. You choose a 15-minute start slot between 17:00 and 21:00, and the route closes at 23:00.

It runs every evening from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, except 22 and 24 December, and goes ahead in the rain. Children can follow the outdoor route free, but every indoor stop needs a ticket. The route is wheelchair accessible and dogs are welcome. The audio story is in Dutch; other languages have not been announced.
