The Halve van Oostende is a winter running race with the North Sea as its backdrop. Its first edition in February 2026 drew 3,600 runners; the second takes place on Sunday 28 February 2027, with a half marathon and a 10 km run.
The course mixes promenade, beach, dunes and paved roads, and the weather in February is part of the challenge. In 2026 the half marathon turned in Middelkerke and came back along the beach at low tide, and the 10 km turned in Mariakerke; the 2027 route will broadly follow it, with traffic-free roads.
The 10 km starts at 09:45 and the half marathon at 10:30 (times provisional). Entry costs from €23 for the 10 km and €37 for the half marathon, with chip timing included, and registration stays open until the day before while places last. Bibs can be collected on Saturday 27 February from 14:00 to 18:00 or on race morning from 08:30. The exact start and finish location for 2027 is still to be announced; in 2026 it was the Zeeheldenplein.
Details can change at short notice. Please check with the organiser before you travel.
