KerstVistijn: Christmas in the Vuurtorenwijk

KerstVistijn is the Christmas get-together of the Vuurtorenwijk, the lighthouse district on the east bank of Ostend’s harbour. It fills the Kerkplein, the square by the Sint-Antonius van Paduakerk, with the kind of neighbourly festive spirit you do not always find at the bigger city markets.
It is on for one day, Sunday 20 December 2026, from 10:00 to 18:00. There is live music and children’s entertainment, a visit from Father Christmas, market stalls and — this being a fishing district — an oyster bar.
The Vuurtorenwijk is on the Oosteroever, reached from the centre by the free harbour ferry from the Visserskaai or by road around the harbour. It makes a good excuse to see a quieter, residential side of Ostend in its Christmas dress.
