About Bar Bristol

Bar Bristol calls itself a ‘petit bar de quartier’ and sits on Leopold I-plein, the square locals know as ‘t Peerd, in the city centre. Chefs Bruce and Boris run the kitchen, with Charlotte and Femke looking after the wine and the music, and the pitch is seasonal cooking built on local suppliers and a short supply chain. Visit Oostende says the menu is renewed every month and mentions smoked salmon from a friend and beef tartare from the butcher next door.

Lunch is a daily-changing three-course menu at €38 (a bite, a starter and a main, or a starter, a main and a dessert), with a seasonal à la carte alongside. In the evening you can choose à la carte or a five-course dinner menu at €58, and there is an experience menu at €68; on Saturday evenings only the dinner menu is served. Sample dishes on the site include mussels with miso, cod with beurre blanc, Irish oysters and fennel with labneh. Parties of four or more are asked to take the menu.

The kitchen serves from Wednesday to Saturday, noon to 2pm and 6pm to 8.30pm, and on Sunday from noon to 3pm. The bar itself stays open later, to 11pm from Wednesday to Saturday and until 6pm on Sunday, and is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Online booking closes an hour before service, so phone for a last-minute table. Visit Oostende lists the bar as dog-friendly and wheelchair accessible, and it takes groups and private events by email.

Bar Bristol took part in the 2026 edition of Ostendaise: North Sea Food Fest, the free summer food festival on the Zeeheldenplein, with its festival dish, Smokey Haddock.
