Bistro Bottarga is a relaxed bistro on the Albert I-promenade, in a glass-fronted building with a terrace out front and a direct view of the sea. The restaurant’s own menu is headed “World Cuisine”, and the Ostendaise festival’s listing sums it up as classic North Sea cooking alongside southern, fusion-style dishes.
The card is wide-ranging. Tapas-style bites include kibbeling with remoulade, spring rolls and samosas, nachos and Irish oysters. Then come Ostend fish soup, shrimp croquettes, mussels, three small soles meunière, pan-fried cod, steak tartare and grilled steaks, plus Thai red curries and a vegetarian section with a cauliflower steak, tortelloni and a vegan stuffed tomato. A monthly suggestions menu and a weekly lunch sheet vary what is on offer. When checked in October 2026, main courses cost roughly €20 to €37, and the two-course lunch, served Tuesday to Saturday, was €25.50.
According to Visit Oostende the restaurant is open from noon to 9.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday, and closed on Mondays. At weekends and on holidays a tea-room and an afternoon snack menu fill the gap between lunch and dinner. Dogs and children are welcome (there is a kids’ menu), it is listed as wheelchair accessible, and it offers free wifi and takeaway. Tables are booked through the website, and each table receives a single bill.
Bistro Bottarga took part in the 2026 edition of Ostendaise: North Sea Food Fest, the free summer food festival on the Zeeheldenplein, with its festival dish, Hondshaai Chermoula.
