CultuurCafé De Grote Post is the café-restaurant inside De Grote Post, the post-war modernist cultural centre on Hendrik Serruyslaan. You climb the building’s steps and pass through the revolving doors, then settle into a dining room of green banquettes and tall glazed doors dressed with large portrait panels. It is handy before or after a performance in the building, and it is open to everyone, not only theatre-goers.
The café is open every day from 8.30am to 11pm and the kitchen runs continuously, with breakfast served until 11.15am. The menu mixes healthy dishes with classics and adds the occasional original suggestion; vegetables take the lead, the team works with local suppliers and it buys organic where it can. Besides the standard menu there is a fixed Must Eat Menu, a breakfast menu, a wine list and a children’s menu.
The same team handles catering in the building and welcomes groups of 15 to 120 people or more; the halls themselves are booked through De Grote Post. It also runs Lorre, a takeaway and catering shop, and Panorama, a rooftop restaurant and terrace. Visit Oostende lists the café as wheelchair accessible, child-friendly and dog friendly, with free Wi-Fi.
CultuurCafé De Grote Post took part in the 2026 edition of Ostendaise: North Sea Food Fest, the free summer food festival on the Zeeheldenplein, with its festival dish, Schelvis Gyoza.
