About Kiss the Chef

Kiss the Chef is a Thai bistro on Visserskaai, the fish quay in Ostend’s harbour. The kitchen cooks seasonal, local produce with an exotic twist and pairs it with natural wines, specialty beers and cocktails, in a relaxed, slightly funky room with good music playing. The tone is informal rather than formal.

The menu is short. ‘Bite for more’ is a list of small plates: spring rolls, one vegan version with mushrooms and one with cod, Korean-style chicken wings, Iberico pork skewers and a green papaya salad. The main dishes are Thai wok dishes and curries such as pad Thai, pad krapow with a fried egg, and green curry, mostly with a choice of tofu, chicken, prawns or beef. Once a month there is also a five-course Thai fusion tasting menu at 90 euros per person.

On Wednesday it is open for dinner only, from 6pm to 11pm. From Thursday to Sunday it serves lunch from noon to 2pm and dinner from 6pm to 11pm, and it is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Reservations are essential if you want to eat in, and they are taken by phone. There is also takeaway, ordered by phone before 11.30am for lunch or before 5pm for dinner.

Kiss the Chef took part in the 2026 edition of Ostendaise: North Sea Food Fest, the free summer food festival on the Zeeheldenplein, with its festival dish, Kiss the Langoustine.
