Bistro Muccka

Bistro Muccka is a comfort-food bistro and wine bar on Marie-Joséplein, a few minutes’ walk from the Kursaal and the seafront. The owners, chef Patrick Mukabucyana and co-founder Tania Sanctorum, describe the cooking as honest and seasonal, with the emphasis on the ingredients and on wines and artisanal beers chosen to go with them.

The menu is built for sharing. Recent suggestions on its website include shrimp croquettes, North Sea crab with wasabi mayonnaise and green apple, Irish oysters, vitello tonnato and jamón, followed by pasta, a quinoa and avocado salad with slow-cooked organic chicken, Piedmontese beef tartare, duck breast and a 300-gram ribeye. A weekly fish suggestion changes with the catch, and the chef updates the suggestions regularly.

The bistro is open from 9am to 11pm Thursday to Monday, with the kitchen running from 11.30am to 9pm, and is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Online reservation requests are only valid once the restaurant confirms them by email, and you can also book by phone in the morning or late afternoon. The same owners offer rooms at Circa 1929, a bed and breakfast on Graaf de Smet de Naeyerlaan.

Bistro Muccka took part in the 2026 edition of Ostendaise: North Sea Food Fest, the free summer food festival on the Zeeheldenplein, with its festival dish, Pladijs Zomertarwe.
