Paroles Paroles opened in summer 2023 in the new Sky District, about 50 metres from Ostend station, and within a year Gault&Millau named it H!P of the Year 2025 for Flanders, with a score of 12.5/20. It is a sharing restaurant, bar and event café in one, with a large sun terrace and an interior of green arches, hanging plants, fringed parasols and booths painted with the Mona Lisa.

Chef Terence McGarrity’s kitchen takes its cue from bars in Barcelona, Berlin and Paris, and the menu changes with the seasons. The autumn 2026 card runs from Ostend oysters (four for €16) and red mullet ceviche to sweetbread ‘McNuggets’, Lebanese fish tacos and pappardelle with wild boar, at €16–24 a plate; sides such as beetroot hummus or Cajun sweet potato fries cost €6–9. The house advice is two to three dishes each plus a side or two.

Natural wines, cocktails and a good beer list make it just as good for a drink at the bar. A smart choice for a lively dinner with friends, or before or after a train. Open Tuesday to Saturday evenings.

Paroles Paroles took part in the 2026 edition of Ostendaise: North Sea Food Fest, the free summer food festival on the Zeeheldenplein, with its festival dish, Inktvis Vierge.
