Hotel Rubens

Hotel Rubens is a small, family-run two-star hotel on the Visserskaai, the fishermen’s quay that leads from the station towards the sea. With 24 rooms, it is a simple, no-frills base in one of the liveliest parts of Ostend, with the marina in front and the Klein Strand beach a short walk away.

Breakfast is included in the room price. Most rooms look out over the marina, and one double room with a bath has a view of the sea. There are single rooms too, which are increasingly hard to find on the coast, and one room type has its private bathroom just outside the room rather than en suite.

On the ground floor is the hotel’s own pub, serving drinks, pancakes, waffles and ice cream, which is handy on a grey afternoon. The station is about ten minutes away on foot along the quay, past the fish stalls and seafood restaurants.
